Summer Reads – 2019 (Part 1)

This is part 1 of a 4 part series.

I love to read; from fiction to biography and just about anything in between. I tend to have 2-3 digital and audio books loaded on my kindle at all times. My current go to genre is Young Adult Fiction. When I originally thought about putting together a Summer Reads post, I thought I’d share a few of my current YA favorites. And then it hit me. Just because the books on my list are favorites of mine did not guarantee they are equally liked by the intended audience. I needed to go to the source.

I have three nieces, ages 8, 11, and 13, who are voracious readers. When I explained my dilemma and asked for their help, they were more than happy to lend a hand. Each of my nieces picked a book and wrote up a review for me to share. I’ll be sharing one review a day; on the final day, I’ll share my reviews for two audiobooks that had me thoroughly entertained.

Without further ado, here is the first book in our series:

Rise of the Earth Dragon:
(Dragon Masters #1)
by Tracy West

Have you ever been ripped away from the home you loved? This is what happened to Drake when a soldier took him away from his home and told him he had to train a dragon for the king.

Drake meets three other kids like him who are called Dragon Masters. Drake must fit in and connect with his dragon in order to adapt to his new life at the castle.

My favorite of the book is when Drake finds out Worm’s (the dragon’s) secret. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and fantasy.

Mattie, age 8
This is the first book of a 15 book series.
