I Can Name That Book in One Line

“I Can Name That Book in One Line” is a literacy game I created when I was still in the classroom and played with my high school students. They loved it!

I would post the first line of a book on the blackboard. My students would write down their name and answer on a scrap of paper. They would then very carefully fold it over (no cheating allowed!!) before placing their entry in a jar on my desk. I would wait a couple of days, if no one had the correct answer, I would put up a hint under the sentence on the blackboard. I rarely had to give more than one hint. The students (all boys) became so competitive which other that I soon had to institute a date and time stamp on their entries to avoid “I got the answer first” arguments!

For fun, I thought I’d create an online version for us here at Literacy Untangled. Let’s see how you do!
